Apple has removed VLC media player from the App Store, putting an end to the controversy over Apple's inssitence to impose DRM on the open sourced app. The iTunes page for VLC media player has stopped working. VLC developer Rémi Denis-Courmont notes that he is 'not going to pity the owners of iDevices, and not even the MobileVLC developers who doubtless wasted a lot of their time. This end should not have come to a surprise to anyone.
MyWireless TV is a wireless HDMI transmitter that allows you to stream 1080p video from most any source over 802.11n WiFi to multiple displays (as long as said displays are connected to a MyWireless TV adapter). The system works using Cavium Networks WiVu technology, which is a video streaming protocol that is fully compatible with H.264 encoding, HDCP 2.0 encryption, Dolby surround sound, and can stream 3D video.
A USPTO filing made public Thursday reveals that Microsoft is seeking a patent for something it calls 'One-Way Public Relationships' in social networks and other online properties, lawyer-speak for what's more commonly known as being a 'fan' of something online. It's unclear whether it's a goof on Apple, but Microsoft curiously used the example of a U2 fan named Steve to explain its 'invention' to the USPTO.

Hanvon's 10" color touchscreen e-reader will be released in March 2011 exclusively in China. There are currently no companies that have publicly committed to using the new technology for readers in the U.S., so this is currently the only way consumers will be able to see color E ink.
